I am back to blogging. This time, SERIOUSLY.
Starting the year right with prayers of thanks. We made it, Lord God! Thank you for bringing me to another new year. With you guiding me, protecting me and blessing me, I believe that this year will be a good year.
Filipinos have a lot of traditional practices for New Year's Eve.
For a change, I stayed away from tradition.I did not make a prosperity basket. I did not have 12 fruits on the table. No coins in the window sill. No paper bills in my pocket at the stroke of midnight.
I thought, "I've been doing this since I was a child, and I think it is time for a change."
I just prepared a simple Media Noche (New Year's Eve meal) for me and my children. I made pork siomai (dumplings) and soft shell tacos. We had egg flan for dessert.
At least they were round shaped. Oh no, traditions again! Haha. I did not do that on purpose, honestly. Older folks said that round shaped food represented coins, which would translate to money coming in.
I do believe that whatever good things this New Year will bring is not because of luck. It is because of God's blessing. He knows my needs and provides those needs in His Perfect Time.
"Luck" is for fools. Prayers are way better.
By the Grace of God, everything will be alright. I trust in His Mercy and Goodness. He held me through the most difficult times in life and blessed me with a new year, so what more could I ask for?
Thank you God for all You have given me - much more than I deserve.
